Green-up Cô Tô Island

Green-up is a program held by RTC to raise awareness on environment protection in tourism destionations. Most of Vietnam’s tourist attractions more or less face the problem of pollution, especially from wastes. Local people and tourists are the ones who dump the wastes into the environment. People’s low consciousness is not the only one to blame but the lack of trash-bin in such places. With the hope of improving the environment in Co To Island. RTC stood up as a pioneer in the “Clean-up” Movement in Co To. The act has positively influenced not only the local people but also the tourist visiting the island.
Objectives:
- Raising awareness for local people and tourists visiting Cô Tô Island about environment protection on daily activities;
- Providing Cô Tô Island with tools to improve the consciousness of people on the importance of a clean environment;
Activities:
- Touring around the island to analyze which parts are most filled with trasks and are highly alarmed on the level of environment pollution;
- Trask picking and classifying in the harbor area, centre, seashore, downtown areas;
- Installing 12 trask bins in the most crowded places around Cô Tô Islands;
